All Puppies Deserve a FIRST Chance — an EDUCATION!

Owners and their new puppies are still getting the short end of the stick.

The 2 Most Common Mistakes Dog Owners Make (and How to Fix Them)

There are a couple of mistakes that dog owners frequently make which are simple to fix and have the potential to dramatically improve a dog's behavior.

Getting a Puppy Over the Holidays

The holidays can be a wonderful time to add a puppy or dog to your family, but the holidays also present plenty of challenges.

Dominance and Dogs: Who is the Boss?

Dogs often act as connectors in society.

Puppies and Shelter Dogs: Two Sides of the Same Coin

I am a dog trainer and I lead a double life. Of sorts. Behaviorally speaking.

5.04 It Came from the Internet

When it comes to dogs, people say and do a lot of silly things. Sometimes they record those things and publish them on the internet. Today we're looking at just two examples of this sort of behavior. First is a Facebook post by Sarah Palin where she celebrates her son for stepping on their dog as an illustration of persistence and problem solving.

Boom Boom Puppy Power

This video shows some training I did with a young puppy as she would back away and show behaviours associated with feeling uncomfortable around her collar. In a short training period you will see how giving her choice, control and predicability builds and empowered learner who is a willing participant.

My Dog, The Adrenalin Junkie

We’ve all met people who can’t relax. People who have to be active, who need to be doing something all of the time. We’ve known folk who crave excitement, extreme sports. The P.A.W. System for overcoming any dog behavior problem

Perception, Action, and the Will. It occurred to me that these three disciplines could be easily adapted into a system for methodically overcoming any dog behavior obstacle (replacing the term “behavior problem” which I believe has more negative baggage). It also occurred to me that despite my long-standing distaste for overused dog clichés, I had no choice but to name the system “P.A.W.”

Muttamorphosis Dog-Stars of the Big Screen!

When a group of North East of England dog owners signed up for a training class last Summer, they never thought their pooches could become celebs. But that’s now on the cards for the regions first all dog cast, after they made a short film which premiered in Newcastle last night. ‘Motley Mutts, The Rescue’ is a joint project between local trainer Sue McCabe of Muttamorphosis and Nathan Squires of MBT Productions.
